Chelsea closer to deal for Real Madrid's Makelele

Chelsea are a step closer to landing Real Madrid midfielder Claude Makelele.

Real broke off talks with Chelsea over the French international after Makelele refused to train with the club last week.

However, things have been settled in the last 24 hours and Makelele is expected to attend Real training today.

That should clear the way for Real to re-enter talks with Chelsea over a £7 million move for the midfielder.
