Chelsea boss Mourinho admits Roberto Carlos talks

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed their interest in Real Madrid wing-back Roberto Carlos.
 
"Roberto is 33 but I consider him to be the best in his position and I wish it would be possible," he told Portuguese television station TVI.

Roberto Carlos said last week he had received an offer of a three-year deal from Chelsea and would give them an answer before the World Cup finals starts on 9 June.

The Brazil international has helped Real win three La Liga titles since he joining the club in 1996.

Mourinho was keen to add that Chelsea will not become squad full of famous footballers, with Michael Ballack already at Stamford Bridge and AC Milan superstar Andriy Shevchenko set to join the German.

"Ballack has arrived, Shevchenko may arrive, if both arrive or if a third player with their profile were to arrive, it will be the arrival of first rate players to a team that is only made of first rate players," he said.
