Chelsea boss Jose wants Carvalho as Desailly replacement

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is serious about signing Porto defender Ricardo Carvalho after Euro2004.

However, his hopes are being threatened by Real Madrid, which are also chasing the Portugal international.

Carvalho is earmarked to line up alongside John Terry at Stamford Bridge, with veteran Marcel Desailly being cleared for a return to Marseille.

But Jose Antonio Camacho, who has taken over as coach at Real, is also keen on Carvalho.
