Team news and probable line-ups for Wednesday's Group B matches in the second phase of the Champions League:

AS ROMA vs. AJAX AMSTERDAM

Roma need to beat the Dutch side to stand any chance of progressing but are without captain Francesco Totti due to suspension after his sending-off against Arsenal last week.

In his absence Roma will start with a strike partnership of Antonio Cassano, who scored in the 1-1 draw at Highbury, and Vincenzo Montella.

Brazilian midfielder Emerson looks likely to recover from an ankle injury, while in defence Leandro Cufre steps into the breach left by his compatriot Walter Samuel, who is also suspended.

Ajax have a doubt over Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who hurt his hamstring while scoring both goals in the 2-1 Dutch league win over Excelsior Rotterdam on Sunday, although tests showed he had not suffered a muscle tear as feared.

Ibrahimovic is one of six Ajax players facing a suspension if they pick up a booking in the Italian capital.

Defender Hatem Trabelsi injured his ankle on Sunday but should play. Ronald Koeman's team will go through if they win or draw, and could also progress even if they lose depending on other results.

VALENCIA vs. ARSENAL

Valencia suffered a serious injury blow when Argentine winger Kily Gonzalez sustained knee ligament damage in Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Athletic Bilbao, ruling him out for up to six weeks.

Rafa Benitez's side will also be without key midfielder Ruben Baraja because of suspension for a match they need to win to make it through to the knockout stage. Juan Sanchez and Gonzalo de los Santos are vying for the role as his replacement.

Argentine centre back Mauricio Pellegrino has been passed fit to play and he should join his countryman Roberto Ayala at the heart of the defence.

Arsenal, who suffered a surprise defeat at Blackburn in the premier league on Saturday, have serious injury problems in their defence as they seek the draw that will put them through.

Martin Keown is out with a hamstring problem and Sol Campbell is very doubtful due to a sore Achilles. Frenchman Pascal Cygan and Latvian Igors Stepanovs are the likely stand-ins. Left back Ashley Cole (hernia) and utility defender Oleg Luzhny (calf) are unfit.

Experienced goalkeeper David Seaman and captain Patrick Vieira, the influential French midfielder, are also struggling with hamstring and knee injuries respectively.
