Champions League matches in Group B

Team news and probable line-ups for Wednesday's Group B matches in the second phase of the Champions League:

AJAX AMSTERDAM vs. ARSENAL

Ajax coach Ronald Koeman is set to start with the same line-up as he used in last week's 1-1 Highbury draw after resting 18-year-old Nigel de Jong for Sunday's 1-0 league defeat at Utrecht.

Koeman has decided not to risk striker Rafael van der Vaart, who has not fully recoverd from a thigh injury.

"We have to be very cautious with Rafael," said Koeman. "I was a bit shocked when I saw the list of 80 matches he played during his first two years. The difficulty with him is that with his special skills he can make the difference for us even when he only 80 percent fit."

Also absent is fellow striker Mido, who was dropped to the reserves for disciplinary reasons last week.

The Egyptian played against PSV Eindhoven reserves on Monday but showed little to convince Koeman that his attitude has changed.

Hatem Trabelsi, Tomas Galasek and Petri Pasanen missed training on Monday but all three will be ready for Wednesday's game.

Arsenal, who have never won Europe's premier club competition, were disappointed with the 1-1 draw at Highbury last week but rediscovered their goal touch on Saturday with a 5-1 romp at Manchester City.

Manager Arsene Wenger hopes to have goalkeeper David Seaman (hip) and left back Ashley Cole (groin) available again. Ukrainian defender Oleg Luzhny (calf) and Nigerian striker Nwankwo Kanu (thigh), a former Ajax player, are out.

Swedish midfielder Freddie Ljungberg, who has an Achilles problem, may be fit. Another ex-Ajax player, Dennis Bergkamp, has travelled and should lead the attack alongside in-form Frenchman Thierry Henry.

VALENCIA vs. AS ROMA

Argentine playmaker Pablo Aimar and Spanish international winger Vicente have both recovered from minor injuries and should be back to boost Valencia bid for a second win over the Italians.

Valencia needed a freak goal from John Carew to claim a 1-0 win in Rome last week but they played themselves into far better attacking form at the weekend with a sweeping 4-0 victory at Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish league.

Miguel Angel Angulo, who opened the scoring in that game, is still suspended in Europe, meaning a likely place for Francisco Rufete on the right of midfield.

Francesco Totti returns for AS Roma after three weeks on the sidelines with a muscle problem and the Roma captain will be aiming to give a boost to his team who suffered another poor result in Serie A with a 2-1 defeat to Udinese on Sunday.

Totti's return is timely as Roma coach Fabio Capello must cope without forwards Marco Delvecchio and Vincenzo Montella.

Greek defender Traianos Dellas is also missing, so Capello will have to re-organise the centre of his defence with Brazilian Aldair and Jonathan Zebina competing for a place alongside Argentine Walter Samuel.
