Casillas: We Cannot Make The Same Mistakes

Iker Casillas is hoping that Real Madrid can learn from the mistakes that they made in the first game against Juventus ahead of the second meeting between the teams on Wednesday.

The Spanish international goalkeeper is confident that Los Merengues can bounce back in the Champions League and thinks that the team will be prepared for how the Italians set out their stall.

Juve won the first game in Turin in Group H a fortnight ago thanks to goals at the start of either half from Alessandro Del Piero and Amauri, and Casillas does not want a repeat.

"The mistake we made in the first game was that let in a very early goal. Juve started well and we were a bit taken aback and need to be more focussed from the start," AS quote him saying. "In the second half the same thing happened as they scored within five minutes."

"Juventus can produce something big from something small and we have to realise that they can test us from set pieces. We are on a run where it seems that every shot against us goes in, but we cannot worry because we are working on that and hope to come out of it."

"We are not letting in goals from set pieces and that is important because that means teams have to produce good moves to score."

Almería had very few shots on target in their league game against Madrid at the weekend but still came away with a draw, but Casillas does not think the team should worry.

"I thought that we played well enough and created chances, but could just not finish more off. I am with the coach when he said that we let two points slip there," he continued.

"We are near the top in the league and going for first place. We are also conscious that we cannot slip up any more."

"I think that we are also in a good position in the Champions League and know that if we win on Wednesday then we will have virtually qualified for the next phase."

Casillas was not keen to talk about comparisons between Madrid's current displays and Barcelona's form and thinks that his side are hampered by other teams raising their game.

"I think that comparisons are becoming old. We would like to win every game by playing well, but it is obvious that every team is highly motivated to play against Real Madrid," he added.
