Casillas moves to second all-time in Spain caps

Goalkeeper Iker Casillas became Spain’s second most-capped player during the 3-2 World Cup warmup win over Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

The Real Madrid goalkeeper’s 103rd appearance for the European champions left him behind only another goalie—Andoni Zubizarreta, who played in a record 126.

Casillas was tied with Real Madrid teammate Raul Gonzalez before the friendly at Tivoli Stadium.

Casillas made his debut in a 1-1 draw at Sweden in 2000 and became the first-choice ‘keeper from the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea. Casillas, who has allowed 59 goals, captained Spain to its Euro 2008 triumph.

Also, David Villa, thanks to scoring against the Saudis, moved within seven goals of tying Raul’s record 44 for Spain.
