Carlos could face scan

Real defender Roberto Carlos could be forced to undergo a scan on his knee after a brutal challenge by striker Oli Alvarez in Sunday's game.

The two players clashed in the 40th minute of Real's 1-1 draw at Oviedo, with Carlos subsequently having to be stretchered off after receiving a blow to his left knee.

Oli was sent packing by ref, Javier Losantos Omar, just four minutes later for diving after a challenge from Ivan Helguera.

Carlos will now rest the knock but, if the pains continue, then he will visit the club's clinic on Tuesday for tests and a magnetic scan.

The Brazilian left-back said after the game: "There was no need for that challenge. Oli has since spoken to me and we've cleared matters up but it was an unfortunate incident."
