Capello: Real Madrid fans wanted me to stay

Sacked Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello says he had the fans on his side before his dismissal.

"This will be a special year for me, I want to relax while I look around and decide what I want to do," said Capello

"I will not accept any new bench for now, the most important thing for me is to feel the trust of those I work for.

"Surveys have shown that most of the Madrid fans wanted me to stay, but the President had different ideas."

"I accepted these decisions, as I have always done in the past, now I will use this year to think about the future," said Capello, who will work as a commentator for RAI television.
