Capello opens door to Real Madrid stay for Cassano

Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello has opened the door to Antonio Cassano staying at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"The boy had a very difficult childhood and you need to have patience with him. You have to know how to wait. Now it all depends on him. I can forgive anyone who asks to be forgiven," said Capello.
 
The ex-Roma and Bari starlet was fined and frozen out of the Merengues side last week after a blazing row with Capello.

He revealed that he wishes he'd "never left Roma" and said he'd "gladly walk all the way" if it meant returning to play for the Giallorossi.

A January sale seemed inevitably, but Capello is giving Cassano another chance if he can put his pride to one side.

"What he did was very serious and the club did well to react that way," continued the tactician.

"Now he has to apologise and ask forgiveness of the team, to me and the fans, because I'm not the only person he showed a lack of respect for."

The former Juventus boss also commented on the latest statements by Arrigo Sacchi, who criticised this Real Madrid outfit for its focus on individuals rather than teamwork and a perceived lack of joy in the sport.

"It's typical of Sacchi to complain about every team," replied Capello. "He always says the same things, like a broken record. He has been a great Coach and prompted a revolution in football, but now when he talks about the sport it's a CD left on repeat."
