Capello is pathetic, storms Del Bosque

Real Madrid coach Vicente del Bosque has accused Roma rival Fabio Capello of "talking nonsense" following calls for Tuesday's Champions' League results to be scrapped.

Capello believes Tuesday's games should never have gone ahead after the terrorist attacks on the United States.

"It would have been correct to postpone the match. After watching television and seeing the tragic images, I thought it would be postponed," said the Roma coach, whose side went on to lose the home game 2-1.

Under-pressure Uefa subsequently postponed the rest of the week's European programme, but their decision to order Tuesday's games to be played left a sour taste.

PSV Eindhoven president Harry van Raaij, whose team lost 4-1 at Nantes, led the chorus of protest, and Borussia Dortmund counterpart Dr Gerd Niebaum said: "The decision must have been made by someone who is not of this world."

But calls for the matches to be ruled void have not impressed Del Bosque. "Capello is talking nonsense. It's pathetically obvious he is doing this because he lost."

"It´s so obvious that I won´t comment on that anymore even if Capello or any other team, such as Borussia, propose to repeat the games."

The Real coach said he was as shocked as everyone else by what happened in the USA, but added that Uefa's decisions had to be respected.

"No team must blame Uefa for playing or not. This was an extraordinary terrorist act and that´s all."
