Capello confident of Real title lifeline

Coach Fabio Capello, who confirmed that David Beckham was fit to play, is counting on Real Madrid beating Mallorca on Sunday to clinch the Spanish title so he can keep his job.

"I'm hoping it won't be my last game," said the Italian who guided Real to the title ten years ago in a previous spell at the Bernabeu.

Capello, who told a press conference here that he wasn't concerned about his future, added: "The club's asked me what I think of certain players who we're looking at signing up."

Real will win the league with victory over Mallorca on the last day of the season prompting Capello to reflect: "Every time I've been in this position we've won the last game. I remember especially that happening with Roma."

Turning to Beckham, who trained Saturday after a left ankle problem, Capello said: "He's doing well. I spoke to him today and he told me that he feels perfectly fine and is available."

He added: "He was and still is a great player. over the past two months he's regained all his physical condition and without a doubt is one of the best players I've ever coached."
