Cannavaro Will Stay At Real Madrid - Agent

Although reports suggest the Fabio Cannavaro could end up at Napoli, this will not be the case if Real Madrid offer the classy defender the correct offer.

Fabio Cannavaro's agent has revealed the player is set for contract extension talks at the end of the month with Real Madrid but he would not totally dismiss a return to Napoli for the Italian.

The Azzurri have left the door open for their former defender to come home at the end of the season. However, such a move would be highly unlikely if he signs a renewal in Spain, as is currently expected. Nevertheless, Gaetano Fedele has revealed there is always a possibility of a return.

"I have a meeting scheduled with Real Madrid for the end of January at which we aim to discuss a [contract] renewal," the agent told Marca.

"I have no doubts that Fabio will end the year with Los Blancos."

"However, we will not close the doors on Napoli, everything will progress and we need to evaluate things with a clear head."

Cannavaro's current deal expires at the end of June 2009 and, with such interest in their centre-back, Real will need to ensure they offer the Italian international suitable terms for an extension if they are to keep him in their ranks beyond the summer.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has always revealed his ambition for the defender to end his career at San Paolo and he is likely to try hard in an attempt to land the 2006 World Cup winner.
