Cannavaro Set To Sign Real Madrid Extension

Reports in the peninsula claim that Canna has reached an agreement to extend his stay at the Bernabeu past this season.

Fabio Cannavaro’s current deal was set to expire next June and his representatives had been in talk with Real Madrid for several weeks.

There were rumours last week that new Merengues boss Juande Ramos was not keen on keeping hold of the 2006 World Cup winner, who could have walked away as a free agent next summer.

However, Tuttonapoli.net reports this morning that he has agreed a one-year contract renewal and will earn around €3 million.

Serie A side Napoli had been hoping to re-sign their former youth product and form a defensive partnership with his brother Paolo.

The Italy captain played at the Stadio San Paolo from 1992 to 1995, before moving on to Parma, Inter and Juventus, which he left to join Real in the wake of Calciopoli, in the summer of 2006.
