Campo eyes Tenerife return

Central defender Ivan Campo may return to the Real side for next weekend's league game at Tenerife following two months out.

Club doctors feel that the time is right for Campo, who has been suffering from anxiety attacks, to return to training with his colleagues, although regular first-team football is likely be introduced gradually.

The player is expected to sit on the bench in the game against Tenerife but coach Vicente Del Bosque will want the Basque stopper in reserve to alleviate the strains on first-team stars Fernando Hierro, Aitor Karanka and Francisco Pavón.

Meanwhile, Steve McManaman will not be available for Tuesday's Champions League game against Panathinaikos as he is suffering with a back problem.
