Cambiasso completes River Plate move

Young Real Madrid hopeful Esteban Cambiasso is to join Argentine outfit River Plate on loan next season.

However, before signing for the South Americans, the 22-year-old midfielder extended his contract with Real Madrid to 2004.

Real have big plans for Cambiasso, but feel that he still requires time to develop and so have prescribed a series of loans.

Last year the player completed a spell at Independiente de Avellaneda, and attracted the attention of some of Europe's top clubs, including Bayern Munich and Celta Vigo.

River Plate coach Ramon Diaz is thrilled to have Cambiasso on board, and said on Monday: "He's a fantastic player who can play anywhere."
