Camacho offers Real Madrid resignation

Jose Antonio Camacho has offered his resignation to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

Camacho made the gesture yesterday, but it was knocked back by Perez - despite one of the worst weeks in his reign.

The two men will meet on Monday to address Madrid's current problems which have come to a head in the past week.

The Spanish giants were thrashed 3-0 at Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Wednesday night and then went down 1-0 at Espanyol in the Primera Liga on Saturday.

If losing at the Olympic Stadium wasn't bad enough for Madrid, the manner of the defeat will have hurt Camacho.

The suggestion that Camacho will walk on Monday has been given further credibility by the news that Madrid have changed their training plans so that the coach can meet with Perez.

Madrid were scheduled to hold an open session at their training ground in the morning but that has now been switched to a closed session at the Bernabeu in the evening.

"Everything will be decided on Monday," said Perez last night.
