Calderon denies blocking Real Madrid protests

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon insisted last night he did not order the taking down of signs in protest against the club's summer recruiting.

Before Real's 2-0 win over Real Sociedad, signs were seen at the Santiago Bernabeu declaring 'Where is Kaka?' and 'Kaka, Robben and Cesc, unfulfilled promises', but were later removed.

Calderon said: "I have always said I will listen to supporters who have educated criticisms. I have always been a rebellious critic and someone who has gone against the establishment."

"I did not issue any command for the signs to be removed."

"There are many people out there who want this project to fail at any cost."
