Butragueno: Solari deserves Real Madrid deal

Real Madrid vice-president Emilio Butragueno has confirmed they want to sign midfielder Santiago Solari to a new contract.

Amid reports that he has agreed terms on a pre-contract with Liverpool, Solari scored a stunning goal in Sunday's victory over Real Mallorca.

"It's obvious that we must hold onto him," said Butragueno. "I know there is a lot of expectation from supporters to see him stay. He deserves a new contract."

He added: "It was nice to see him score. It was a fantastic goal. He's a very important player."
