Bolton's Hierro: Chelsea can't compare with Real Madrid

Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fernando Hierro has taken a swipe at Chelsea by stating they don't stack up against his former Real Madrid.
 
"I don't think Chelsea compare to Real Madrid," said the Bolton midfielder, who lifted the European Cup three times inside five years with Real.

"You cannot compare the two histories. Just last year, Real Madrid were named the best team of the last century because of everything they won. They have won more European Cups than anyone else, they've got more trophies than any other team in the world and they have the most glorious history in the whole of football."

"You make history and your reputation by winning trophies. Chelsea are in the Champions League semi-final, but that's all at this stage."

Although Hierro feels Chelsea have some way to go to be ranked among the European greats, he feels they can dominate for the next five years.

"Football goes in cycles and in England you had the great period of Manchester United and then Arsenal," he added. "Now it is Chelsea's turn. What stands out is that they play as a team. They have some great individuals, but they gel as a fantastic unit."
