Real Madrid fans must have been disappointed last night not to see Ronaldo in the flesh before the team's first match of the season with Espanyol.

It appears the Merengues had no time to make a short ceremony of set up a short speech by the Brazilian star. It is worth mentioning the fans also failed to prepare anything as no welcome signs appeared in the Bernabeu stands.

However Ronaldo is a good deal for Real and it showed last night: as many as 400 number-eleven shirts with Ronie's name were sold by the club.
