Benitez agent admits Liverpool shop window for Real Madrid move

Rafa Benitez's agent admits his move to Liverpool was always designed to put him in the shop window for an eventual switch to Real Madrid.
 
The Mirror says sources in Madrid suggested Benitez has jumped ahead of Arsene Wenger, Sven Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello on Real's wish-list.

Benitez, who played for Madrid's junior teams before injury curtailed his career, coached the club's C and B teams, working under Vicente Del Bosque who led Real to two Champions League titles.

When he joined Liverpool after walking out on Valencia 15 months ago, Benitez's agent Manuel Garcia Quilon claimed: "It's a great shop window for Rafa to show his talent to become Real Madrid coach."

Quizzed a few months ago about his future, Benitez said: "I am committed to Liverpool. I have four years more on my contract. I'm very happy here."

But this summer saw Benitez frustrated in his attempts to strengthen the Anfield squad and that may have him considering any offer that arrives from Real.
