Benfica rejected £8M Real Madrid offer for Luisao

Real Madrid had an £8 million offer for Luisao rejected by Benfica on Sunday.

The Brazilian midfielder, who joined Benfica from Cruizero, was recommended to Real sports director Jorge Valdano by the club's Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz.

Though needing the cash, Benfica turned down the offer as they wouldn't have had time to find a replacement before yesterday's transfer deadline.
