Benfica beat Juventus, Real Madrid for Alex

Benfica appear to have beaten Juventus and Real Madrid for Santos defender Alex.

The young Brazilian centre-half is expected to move to Portugal after Santos' Copa Libertadores commitments are over this year.

Real tabled a £5 million offer for Alex last month, while Juve chief Luciano Moggi was also chasing the youngster.

But Benfica have reportedly had their £8 million bid accepted by Santos and expect Alex to be playing in their colours next season.
