Becks happy in Madrid

David Beckham has nailed the door shut on a return to England, saying he is content with life at Real Madrid.

Rumours had claimed moneybags Chelsea were lining up a blockbusting summer raid on El Santiago Bernabeu to bring the England captain back to The Premiership.

However, Beckham says he is settled in the Spanish capital and is not even considering returning to England.

"I won't be going to Chelsea," Beckham told the Sunday Mirror. "I would never consider leaving Real Madrid."

"I said when I signed for Real that I wanted to stay here as long as I can and I don't foresee any circumstances that would bring me to leave."

"I don't know if the club feel the same way, although I think they do because I'm happy playing football with great players - and as far as I'm concerned I'm staying put."

Beckham, who has cemented a regular place in the heart of Real's midfield, feels he would find it impossible to improve his game at any other club.

"I think you've always got to look to improve your career and your game and that's what I want to keep doing," he added. "I don't see any team at the moment where I could up my level."

"When I was at Old Trafford I always thought that there was nowhere better than United and that Real Madrid was the only place that I could come that was on a par with such a great club."

"Of course when I signed for Real a lot of things had gone on before, which are in the past now. But I look back on my time at United as one of the best parts of my life, because I played for them for so many years and enjoyed my time there - I could probably never get that back again."

"But coming to Real Madrid is a different experience, with a different team, different players and a different country."
