Beckham, With One Goal in 33 Attempts, Worried About Free-Kicks

David Beckham said he's concerned about his trademark free-kicks after scoring once in 33 attempts during league games for Real Madrid, Marca reported.

"It's something that has started to worry me," Beckham was quoted as saying by the sports daily. "In the next few days, I'm going to work at sorting it out."

Soccer's highest earner, Beckham is famed for his curling free-kicks and took 33 of Real Madrid's 58 in the league this season, Marca said. At previous club, Manchester United, he was featured in a TV advert for Adidas-Salomon AG practicing them.

In total, Beckham scored three times with free-kicks during his first season for Madrid. He also got one in the Champions League and one in Spain's Copa del Rey.

Real Madrid coach Carlos Queiroz said last week that Beckham and his teammates weren't scoring enough goals from free-kicks, saying they didn't practice them much in training because it was "sapping" on their muscles.

According to Marca, full-back Roberto Carlos got one goal from 19 free-kicks in league games. Midfielder Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane, who took three each in the league, got a goal apiece with free-kicks in Copa del Rey matches.
