Beckham sticking with Real insists coach Queiroz

Real Madrid coach Carlos Queiroz has dismissed speculation that England captain David Beckham will move back to the Premiership, stating that he expects the midfielder to be a Real Madrid player next season.

The 29-year-old former Manchester United midfielder has reportedly been targetted by Arsenal and Chelsea but Queiroz said he expected Beckham to remain at the Santiago-Bernabeu stadium because of the opportunities he gets to play in the centre of midfield.

"I believe David Beckham will be here next season. With more experience, his maturing decisions and skill, I believe he can improve," Queiroz told the BBC.

Beckham, who signed a four-year deal in July 2003, is also understood to have told Real president Florentino Perez that after the club's poor season, he wants to stay another year to prove himself.

Reigning Spanish champions Real's poor season means that there has been speculation Queiroz himself will be forced out in the summer but the ex-Manchester United assistant manager says he intends to stay with Madrid.

"I have a contract for one more year," Queiroz insisted.
