Beckham Reveals Extent Of Fergie Rift

David Beckham has revealed the extent of his rift with Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and described the moment he knew his future was away from Old Trafford.

Excerpts from his forthcoming autobiography, 'My Side' have been serialised in the News of the World.

He recalled how after last seasons Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid at Old Trafford, which United won on the night, but lost on aggregate, he watched the match on television and saw Ferguson react furiously to him missing a free-kick.

The Real Madrid star, who scored two minutes into his league debut in Spain last night, said: "His face seconds after I missed a free-kick made me feel like a door had been slammed in my face when I saw the game on TV."

"His face told me everything I needed to know. His rage, his frustration and it was all Beckham's fault."

Beckham also recalled a row that occurred after he turned up late for training as his son Brooklyn was ill.

The England captain revealed the United manager wasn't sympathetic, saying: "The boss thought differently: 'Your responsibilities are here at the club, not at home with your son'."
