Beckham ready to talk contract extension with Real Madrid

Real Madrid star David Beckham will sit down with Real Madrid in the next few months to talk about a contract extension.

The English international captain again stated his desire to remain with the Spanish club through his spokesman Simon Oliveira. Beckham is interested in securing his long-term future with the club, and possibly ending his career with the 'galacticos.'

"David has expressed his desire to finish his career at Real Madrid," Oliveira said. "And on (Real Madrid's) side, they are keen to extend his contract."

The 30-year-old Beckham, who joined Real in the summer of 2003, spent the majority of his youth back in England starring for Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United. Rumors have linked Beckham to the United States and England as possible future destinations to finish out his career. But the talented playmaker has insisted on numerous occasions he is happy with his current situation.

Beckham has two years left on his current deal with Real. But the two sides have already had preliminary discussions about striking a new deal to keep him in Spain.

Oliveira, though, shot down reports that suggested a deal was already agreed upon by the two sides.

"To say a deal has already been done in principle would be off the mark," Oliveira said. "But David is very happy at the club and this is the right time to start talking about a new contract."

"We will sit down before the end of the year without a doubt."
