Beckham: No Real Madrid deal agreed

David Beckham has moved quickly to deny claims from Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon that he has agreed a two-year contract extension.
 
"The intention on both sides is to sit down and talk over a new deal in the autumn," a spokesman for Beckham told Reuters. "No new deal has been agreed at the moment."

Calderon said on Sunday that he hoped the 31-year-old midfielder would sign a two-year extension to his deal which expires at the end of the season.

"We all want him to stay with us," Calderon told Spanish state television. "We would like him to renew his contract for two more years."

"The coaching staff and the club both agree that he is an important player and have given the go-ahead to a new deal that we hope will be settled in the coming weeks or months."
