Beckham: Lay off Real Madrid pal Roberto Carlos

Real Madrid match-winner David Beckham has urged fans to lay off teammate Roberto Carlos.

The Brazilian was booed by the home crowd during Real's 1-0 win over Osasuna on Tuesday night.

Beckham said: "He is one of the best defenders in the world and also he loves the club."

"It was a very difficult night, with all the booing and whistling. We hoped the atmosphere would improve, but we know the fans are angry."

"The goal I scored was very important. I dedicate it to the club and all our fans."
