Beckham hopes to relive glory days in Munich

David Beckham hopes he can have a glorious night in Munich once again when Real Madrid take on Bayern Munich in Tuesday's Champions League showdown.

Beckham captained England to one of their finest moments at the Olympic Stadium when Sven-Goran Eriksson's team beat Germany 5-1 in a vital World Cup qualifer and Beckham is dreaming of a repeat.

"It would be fantastic if we could repeat that," said Beckham. "If we play like that we will have no problems."

"Bayern look like they are there for the beating but that is just a trick."

"We are not afraid of Bayern but respect them."

Munich has been covered in deep snow ahead of the game and manager Ottmar Hitzfeld is hoping the cold can throw Real, who are used to the sun in Spain, off their stride.

"We ordered the weather for the match," Hitzfeld joked. "The Spaniards will not like the weather and I think we can profit from that."

"Real are not used to playing in the snow that often."

Real's Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz also cited the weather as a disavantage for his team full of Brazilians and Spaniards.

"It goes without saying that the weather is an advantage for Bayern," confessed Queiroz.

Brazilian World Cup winner Ronaldo admitted he had a lot of warming up to do in Munich.

"Ze Roberto told me it was cold in Munich," said Ronaldo. "I need gloves, a hat and foot cream."

Oliver Kahn is expected to recover from a back complaint and take his place in the Bayern goal, although Hitzfeld admitted midfield playmaker Michael Ballack would decide himself whether he could play in the encounter after suffering from bronchitis.
