Beckham full of praise for Atletico Madrid target Shaun Wright-Phillips

Real Madrid ace David Beckham has backed Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips to make an impact in Spain - should he move to the Primera Liga.

Shaun Wright-Phillips is a target for Atletico Madrid, with sports director Toni Munoz having attended Spain's international against England on Wednesday night to see the young winger in action.

Pressed by Madrid journalists about his England teammate, Beckham said last night: "He is a wonderful, young talent. In addition, it is evident that he has obtained all the help needed to grow as a player from his father, Ian Wright."

"He is a phenomenon and I believe that we are going to see him score a pile of good goals."

Atletico have already registered their interest with Wright-Phillips' agent, former Tottenham defender Mitchell Thomas, and are comfortable with City's £6.5 million asking price.
