Beckham eyeing Champions League return

Manchester United midfielder David Beckham has recovered from fractured ribs and could make his eagerly-awaited comeback in Wednesday's Champions League clash against Deportivo La Coruna, club officials said.

Beckham has been sidelined for a month since picking up the injury in a premier league game against Southampton and aggravating it during United's 2-0 Champions League win over Bayer Leverkusen on November 13.

"David is back in the squad, although whether he starts or not against Deportivo will be a decision for the manager," United's assistant manager Carlos Queiroz told reporters on Tuesday.

"It is always good to have great players such as David Beckham back and things are finally looking up."

Beckham will, however, be spared a reunion with Deportivo defender Aldo Duscher.

Duscher's reckless tackle on Beckham last season broke the England captain's foot and almost forced him out of the World Cup.

Duscher has mysteriously failed to travel with the Spaniards for the fifth meeting between the two sides in little over a year.
