Beckham dismisses injury concerns

England captain David Beckham confirmed on Thursday he would be fit for England's Euro 2004 opener with France on June 13.

Beckham sustained a knock to a cut on his ankle during England's 1-1 draw with Japan on Tuesday but said he would be available for their final friendly against Iceland on Saturday.

"It is fine. There is a niggle I have had for a few weeks but it is not a problem," he told reporters.

Beckham almost missed the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea after breaking his foot prior to the tournament. He took part in the finals after intensive treatment but was never fully fit.
