Beckham determined to make Man Utd return

Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham will return to Old Trafford next week to say farewell to Manchester United.

Becks was looking forward to playing for a Select XI against United to celebrate the Red Devils' 50 years in European competition.

That dream was shattered at the weekend when he suffered a knee ligament injury while playing for Real Madrid in a league showdown against Getafe.

The 31-year-old has been ruled out for up to a month and United officials wrote him out of the charity match.

But the former England skipper spoke to United, asking if he can still come - and they were delighted to agree, says The Sun.

Now Beckham will be announced on to the pitch before the game in a special ceremony - so he can acknowledge the club and their army of fans. Midfielder Becks has played at Old Trafford since his departure to the Bernabeu only in England internationals.
