Beckham can't explain Real Madrid slide

Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham admits he is at a loss to explain the underperforming year the club has experienced.

Real signed off for 2004 with an embarrassing home defeat by Seville and England captain Beckham said: "It is frustrating what has happened to us with all the good players that we have. It is something very disappointing."

Quizzed about Jose Antonio Camacho's shock early resignation, Beckham added: "I don't know the reasons why he chose not to continue. For me, it was very strange as I have never seen a coach leave only a month into his job."

The former Manchester United star also declared Zinedine Zidane as the club's No1 player.

"When I arrived at Madrid, the one that I noticed most was Zidane. There are many stars, but overall it is Zizou, he is a genius."
