Beckham brands England display "embarrassing"

England captain David Beckham described last night's 4-1 defeat in Denmark as "embarrassing".
 
Skipper Becks said: "We lost our way a bit. It's hard to take as we are preparing for games that are important to the country."

"We didn't play to our potential. It was embarrassing to concede three goals so quickly."

"There are no excuses because we should be winning these games and we have to put it right quickly."

England were level at the break before goals from Dennis Rommedahl, Jon Dahl Tomasson and Michael Gravgaard in seven second-half minutes stunned Sven Goran Eriksson's troops.

Wayne Rooney pulled one back for England before substitute Soren Larsen wrapped up matters in injury time.

Midfielder Becks, 30, added: "The first half was very good but the second half, I don't know what it was. We lost our shape and didn't do things we had been told to do by the manager before the game.

"I don't think motivation was a problem and, looking on the bright side, the scoreline does no damage for the future."

"But we can't let it affect our confidence for the World Cup qualifier with Wales in 2½ weeks' time. We have to remember it's a friendly game."
