Beckham at one with Spanish people after attacks

England captain and Real Madrid star David Beckham says he feels "part of the Spanish people" following the bomb blasts which killed 200 people last week.

"People come together when things like this happen. I am English but I feel part of the Spanish people," Beckham told a news conference at Real's training ground.

"What happened in Madrid showed the strength of the people and the country and solidarity. The last few days have been difficult but I hope the people can get over it," he added.

Last week, British media reports suggested the former Manchester United star might consider his position after Thursday's blasts but he swiftly dismissed rumours he might return to the English Premiership.

Beckham left Manchester United for Real Madrid last July for 40 million dollars.

"People say there are problems and I want to go back to England but all the speculation surrounding a move back home is rubbish," Beckham told the News of the World.

"I have signed a four-year contract with Real Madrid. I want to stay here."
