David Beckham has called in his lawyers after an unknown singer used footage of him in the video for her charity single.

The England skipper is furious his image is being used to plug Children Of The World by singer Ana Ann.

The track claims to be the official song for Unicef and shows the midfielder posing with some poverty-stricken kids.

But Becks’ lawyers say the footage is old and insist Ana didn’t get permission to use it.

They want it removed from the video and are demanding it is not shown on music TV channels such as MTV and The Box.

A spokesman for Becks told me: "David never gave permission for footage of him to be used."

"He knows nothing about this song and is consulting his legal advisers."

Confusion also surrounded whether the track had been endorsed by Unicef. Charity workers in London said they knew nothing about it — despite the words "Unicef Official Song" appearing on the single’s promotional material.

A source close to the Real Madrid star added: "David knows he is an icon and is very protective about how his look is used."

"If something isn’t official you can expect a call from his very tough legal team."

"He knows nothing about this record and is furious that people may be taking advantage of him."

"His lawyers are demanding the footage be scrapped and won’t rest until it is."

Becks appeared in the Unicef video with a shaven head in 2001 when he was still at Manchester United.

But now he is at Spanish giants Real Madrid he no longer has any ties with the charity.

Little known Ana is due to release Children Of The World on February 9. She wrote and produced the song herself.
