Bayern's Scholl battling to be fit for Real return

Bayern Munich's Mehmet Scholl injured his right ankle in Tuesday's 1-0 Champions League semifinal first-leg victory over Real Madrid, the German champions said on Thursday.

Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld said the Germany midfielder would definitely miss Saturday's Bundesliga match against Bayer Leverkusen, but could be fit for the second leg against Real at Munich's Olympic Stadium on Wednesday.

Bayern will take on the Spanish side without playmaker and captain Stefan Effenberg, who is suspended after picking up a yellow card in Tuesday's game in Madrid.
