Bayern Munich determined to block Real Madrid’s pursuit of attacking superstar with new contract
Real Madrid have already assembled a squad full of attacking talent, with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., Yan Diomande, Rodrygo and Arda Guler, among others.
Real Madrid have already assembled a squad full of attacking talent, with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., Yan Diomande, Rodrygo and Arda Guler, among others.
Despite this, one player they have long been interested in is Bayern Munich star Michael Olise, whom they were linked with back in the summer.
However, the German club made it clear that he was not available last summer, and Los Blancos moved for Diomande instead.
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Bayern are determined to secure the Frenchman’s future with a new contract.
The German club is well aware of Florentino Perez’s admiration for Olise and wants to protect his long-term future.
Bayern Munich want to do everything they can to prevent any future approach from Los Blancos by tying Olise down to an improved contract.
The 24-year-old already has a contract running until June 2029, meaning Bayern are under no immediate pressure to negotiate his departure.
Olise’s performances have certainly warranted a new contract, though. After recording 15 goals and 19 assists in the Bundesliga last season, he has continued his impressive form so far.
Since the start of the season, the Frenchman has recorded six goals and three assists in just eight appearances.
Real Madrid’s interest in Olise is hardly surprising considering his quality and his relationship with Kylian Mbappe.
The Frenchman is naturally left-footed, and unlike the other Los Blancos attackers, he prefers playing on the right wing.
He combines excellent close control and creativity with an increasingly impressive goalscoring output.
He has also developed immensely as a player since joining Bayern from Crystal Palace a couple of seasons ago.
Everything points to him being an excellent addition to the Real Madrid squad at some point in the future.
However, Bayern have no incentive to sell him unless Los Blancos offer ridiculous money, and a new contract would complicate matters further.
It remains to be seen whether Olise puts pen to paper on a new deal at Bayern and whether Real Madrid make a concrete effort to sign him in the near future.
