Bayern Munich ahead of Real Madrid in Van Nistelrooy race

Real Madrid risk being outbid by Bayern Munich for Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.
 
Real sports chief Predrag Mijatovic has already held talks with Van Nistelrooy's agent and knows the Dutchman is keen on a move to Madrid.

But Bayern Munich have made new contact with United and indicated they're prepared to go as high as £12 million for the 29 year-old Dutchman. Real are reluctant to go beyond £10 million.

Mijatovic will hold talks with United officials in the next 48 hours and is banking on Van Nistelrooy's ambition to continue his career in Spain to swing the deal in their favour.
