Bayern face heavy fine for Beckham snowballing

Bayern Munich can expect a hefty fine from UEFA over their treatment of England captain David Beckham in the 1-1 Champions League draw with Real Madrid at the Olympic Stadium a week ago.

Beckham, 28, was pelted by snowballs by home fans when taking corner kicks, prompting the Munich tannoy speaker to plead for a cease-fire.

UEFA have noted the incident and Bayern now face being hit hard in the pocket for the actions of their fans.

The mifielder was a member of the Manchester United team that defeated Bayern 2-1 in the 1999 Champions League final in Barcelona.

Bayern and Real cross swords again in Wednesday's Champions League second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
