Barcelona wants talks "today or tomorrow" with Beckham

Barcelona are seeking talks with Manchester United star David Beckham before the end of the week.

Barca want to meet with at least Beckham's advisors before Thursday and Juan Jose Castillo, the club's new press secretary, said: "We have to resolve the Beckham situation this week. We can't let it go on any longer."

"We will speak very soon, hopefully today [Tuesday] or tomorrow, with either his representative or himself and I think it will be with Beckham."

New Barca president Joan Laporta told Sky Sports, "It depends on the representatives. We are doing our best to incorporate him into our club, Barcelona. We hope that we will have a solution on this matter this week."

"My team has been elected for its whole project," he added. "David Beckham, as me, is a part of the whole project."

"Of course David Beckham is a very important piece of this project. If we can't get the player, we would be sad, but at the same time we have another solution."
