Barcelona stunned as Man Utd open Real Madrid talks

New Barcelona vice-president Sandro Rosell admits he was stunned to see Manchester United officials in talks with Real Madrid on Friday.

Real sports chief Jorge Valdano confirmed last night that Pedro Lopez met with United chief Peter Kenyon and managing director David Gill in Sardinia - but insisted the transfer of David Beckham was not on the agenda.

Rosell told The Sun, "Oh no! If the story about this photograph is true, I will have to speak to the people at Manchester United and ask them what the situation is."

"The contract for David Beckham was with us. If United have met with Real Madrid, I will have to talk to them."

Barca president Joan Laporta also said, "I don't think Madrid have stuck to FIFA rules."

"If I find out this is the case as far as David Beckham is concerned, we will have to take action."
