Barcelona shock move for Real Madrid's Helguera

Barcelona are considering a shock move for Real Madrid defender Ivan Helguera.
 
The Spanish international is entering the final year of his contract at Real and has been told no talks over new deal will be considered by the club until November.

Helguera is a former Espanyol player and would have no problem returning to Barcelona to join the Spanish champs.

Barca chiefs won't make an offer for the defensive utility during this summer's transfer window and instead will try to secure him to a pre-contract in January ahead of a Bosman deal at the end of the season - just as they have done in recent weeks with deals for Mark van Bommel (PSV Eindhoven) and Santi Ezquerro (Athletic Bilbao).

Helguera's former Real coach, Fabio Capello, is also keeping tabs on the situation and would love to bring him to Turin to sign for Italian champions Juventus.
