Barcelona, Real Madrid have Valencia scrambling to keep Silva

Valencia midfielder David Silva is wanted by both Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Real sports chief Pedja Mijatovic and Barca counterpart Txiki Begiristain have both been in contact with Silva's representatives to alert them to their interest.

Silva has already upgraded his contract in the last 12 months, tying himself to Valencia to 2011 and increasing his buyout clause from £16 million to £40 million.

However, alerted to Real and Barca's fresh interest, Los Che chiefs are now keen to open talks about a further improvement, which would include bumping his buyout clause to £80 million.

Real could have signed Silva for nothing, but as a 12 year-old the Spaniard turned down offers for trials to sign with Valencia.
