Barcelona president: We'll keep on Eto'o case

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed he will be pressing to sign Real Mallorca striker Sammy Eto'o before the summer transfer window closes.

"Look, I can tell you that Frank Rijkaard likes Etoo a lot and we'll try to sign him," said Laporta.

"It is a decision between the club, Rijkaard and Txiki Begiristain. Sure, he may cost much, but I believe that we are ready to pay a good price according to the market."

Regarding Real Madrid's co-ownership of Eto'o, Laporta added: "I have absolute respect for Real Madrid, but the player already has said that he only wants to play for Barça."

"If Madrid exerts its right to buy him we will understand it, if not, we will celebrate. Now the only thing we can do is hope."
