Barcelona president leaves Real Madrid decision to Puyol

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has left the ball in Carles Puyol's court as far as speculation of an imminent bid from Real Madrid goes.

"He is an emblem of Barcelona," said Laporta. "Everybody is delighted with him and I trust that he is with us for very many years - at least this is the will of the club, and I am convinced that also it is his."

Puyol is a favourite of Real coach Jose Antonio Camacho and admitted he wouldn't rule out an offer from Barca's bitter rivals if it was to arrive.
